31,790 vehicles were stolen in Japan in 2007

Toyota Hiace was the most stolen vehicle in 2007, according to General Insurance Association of Japan.

The number of vehicles stolen in Japan totaled 31,790 units in 2007. By vehicle type, Toyota Hiace ranked first, at 16% of total stolen vehicles, among the most stolen vehicle in 2007.

Insurance companies in Japan paid $21,840 for average stolen vehicle. 373,951 used vehicles sold in February, down 3.5% Japan’s used vehicle registration in February, totaled 373,951 units, down 3.5 percent compared to last year, according to Japan Automobile Dealers Association.
