Harley-Davidson: proud sponsor of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund and the National Law Enforcement Museum

Washington, D.C. – Over the past century, Harley-Davidson has been supplying motorcycles to law enforcement agencies across the United States. Since 2007, Harley-Davidson, Inc. and Harley-Davidson Motor Company have partnered with the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund by providing Harley-Davidson motorcycles to the NLEOMF to be used to help raise funds for the first-ever National Law Enforcement Museum, a world-class facility, scheduled to open in downtown Washington, D.C. in the fall of 2013.

Harley-Davidson, Inc, is once again a proud sponsor of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund and the National Law Enforcement Museum. The Memorial Fund is proud to continue this partnership in 2010 and welcomes Harley-Davidson to be with us at the National Law Enforcement Museum’s groundbreaking ceremony October 14th, in historic Judiciary Square, Washington, D.C.

“This has proven to be a very effective and beneficial partnership,” said Craig Floyd, Chairman & CEO of the Memorial Fund. “Harley-Davidson stepped up early in the campaign to build the Museum and has been an outstanding partner ever since.” The first three motorcycles provided by Harley-Davidson have raised over $135,000 for the Museum.

The first motorcycle was a 2007 Harley-Davidson Softtail Classic, which the NLEOMF took to the set of NBC’s Law & Order Special Victims Unit. Executive Producer Ted Kotcheff worked closely with the staff at NLEOMF, and asked the entire cast and crew to sign the motorcycle. SVU production staff went one step further and affixed to the front and rear fenders, the Law & Order SVU name.

The first raffle was a great success! U.S. Border Patrol Agent Ernie Castillo from California was on assignment in Washington, D.C. during National Police Week, and stopped by the Visitors Center to purchase one ticket for $100.00. Three days later, the NLEOMF called Agent Castillo with the good news that he had just won a brand new Harley-Davidson! The “A Matter of Honor Campaign” netted $26,000 from this first raffle.
