Used car dealers in Barbados seek government help

Sunday, May 6th, 2007

Used car dealers in Barbados are preparing a special proposal to Government in a last-ditch effort to save their industry.

They believe that if their business continues along its present downward path, new car dealers would significantly raise prices of already expensive car dealers would significantly cars, within the next year or so. Still suffering badly in the aftermath of more than 300 cars being impounded by the Bridgetown Port for nine month last year, the Used Car Dealers Association will now be seeking an audience with the Ministry of Commerce.

The used car dealers in Barbados feel the industry is being marginalized.

Import and sale of used cars were at thief lowest in the last six or seven years, primarily because of restrictive taxes, the two main areas they want to discuss with Government.
