Monday, March 17th, 2008

Magyar Suzuki Corporation, which produces and markets Suzuki vehicles in Hungary, has started production of the Splash world strategic model at its plant in the city of Esztergom.

On 8 February, a ceremony to mark the start of Splash production was attended by Hungarian Senior State Secretary of Economy and Transport Diossy Gabor, Japanese Ambassador to Hungary Shinichi Nabekura, Mayor of Esztergom Tamas Meggyes, and Suzuki Motor Corporation President and COO Hiroshi Tsuda.

Suzuki plans to produce 60,000 units of its Splash world strategic model per annum, with Magyar Suzuki selling the Splash in Hungary and exporting it to other countries around Europe from the spring of 2008.

The Splash is the first model in the second phase of Suzukifs world strategy \ a phase whose theme is families. It follows the Swift, Grand Vitara, and SX4, which Suzuki launched under a theme of sportiness in the first phase of its world strategy. Itfs designed to combine sportiness with the family-friendliness that has long been a hallmark of Suzuki vehicles, and it combines CO2 emissions of just 120g/km with fuel consumption of just 5L/100km.

At the production kickoff ceremony, Suzukifs Hiroshi Tsuda expressed gratitude to the Hungarian government, to the city of Esztergom, and to Magyar Suzukifs suppliers, dealers, and employees. He also pledged that Suzuki would continue to develop safe, environmentally compatible vehicles and continue contributing to Hungaryfs economic development.
