Assembled Parts Division of Nagasaki Works (former Nagasaki Steel Works) separated to establishMitsubishi Nagasaki Machinery Mfg. Co., Ltd. in joint venture with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Mitsubishi Bank and five other Mitsubishi organizations. Rockwell International Suspension Systems Company established in Canada for manufacturing and sales of automotive springs, as a venture with Rockwell International Corporation in the U.S. (Company name changed to Meritor Suspension Systems Company in October 1997.)
